Qualified Electronic Signature

What is a qualified electronic signature (QES)?

The qualified electronic signature is the highest and most secure signature level in Europe. In order to use the QES, signatories must identify themselves to a trust service provider. FP Sign offers the option of carrying out the identification with sign-me or Swisscom All-in Signing Service.

The QES is personalised and replaces the manual signature according to eIDAS. It is used where the legislator specifies "the written form" of the signature.

The QES also offers a reversal of the burden of proof. This means that in legal disputes, the authenticity of the content and the verified identity are assumed. This means that the signatory bears the burden of proving the invalidity of this signature.
